Technology Donations for Non-Profits

Non-Profit Donations

Over the last couple years, we here at J&B Technology have become painfully aware of the technology needs in the nonprofit sector. However, we find that many folks in the nonprofit sector are challenged with technology and don’t know where or how to get the services they need with a limited budget. Technology donations from TechSoup might just be the boost that your organization needs.

Often nonprofits struggle to achieve their goals because they don’t have adequate funding or the tools required to be successful. When it comes to technology, your nonprofit organization might qualify to receive substantial technology donations from TechSoup.

TechSoup is an organization founded in 1987 to provide technical support and tools to nonprofits. Their main was simple; to create a program where volunteers assisted nonprofit organizations so they could gain a foothold on new technology. At that time, TechSoup began soliciting donations of technology products from both software and hardware manufactures.

Since 1987, TechSoup has grown globally and they provide thousands of donated products to nonprofits each year from over 90 major companies including Microsoft, Adobe, Cisco, Intuit and Symantec.

In order to qualify for donations, your organization must have an annual operating budget of $5 million or less and have a valid 501(c)(3) status or be listed in the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) database. Signing up and filling out the application is easy. Simply go to www.techsoup.org and click on the Join button. Final approval and acceptance into the program usually take two or three weeks.

Once you have been accepted into the program, TechSoup will provide you with a list of products that you can request via donation.
